Asbestos Analysis

MACS Lab participates in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) Accreditation #101948 program, and has earned full accreditation for bulk and airborne asbestos analysis. (Accreditation by NVLAP is mandatory for all AHERA analysis.) Accreditation requires consistent, successful proficiency testing and full, on-site laboratory evaluation by NIST inspectors. The laboratory must maintain a fully-implemented quality control program.

MACS Lab participates in the California Department of Health Services (DOHS) ELAP #2027 program and has earned full accreditation. This registers MACS Lab as an environmental testing laboratory pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988. Accreditation by ELAP is mandatory for all determination of hazardous waste analysis and for lead in drinking water and asbestos in water. We are accredited for lead and copper in drinking water. We also have a California Certification for Asbestos Analysis in bulk materials and asbestos in drinking water.

MACS Lab participates in the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Proficiency Analytical Testing (NIOSH PAT), Laboratory #101786 program to demonstrate laboratory proficiency in NIOSH 7400A fiber counting. Our laboratory remains proficient in the quarterly testing rounds. The PAT program provides independent lab samples that have been quantified by NIOSH. Participating laboratories demonstrate their proficiency by measuring their results against those of NIOSH.

MACS Lab holds a soil permit from the United States Department of Agriculture (#S-39484), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Plant Protection and Quarantine Branch granting our facility permission to inport soil samples for the purpose of testing for lead or asbestos. Our permit authorizes shipments from all foreign sources, including Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands through any U. S. port of entry. Please attach a completed and signed PPQ Form 519 to your package. The forms are available from MACS Lab, Inc. or The United States Department of Agriculture. If you don't have a copy of the form please call your MACS Lab sales representative.
