Welcome! I live in Santa Clara, CA with my domestic partner Charles
Landau. My hobbies and interests include old cars, ham
radio (N6VSM), antique technology, motorcycles, science, making
videos,
photography, astronomy, the future, and business. I collect
Atwater-Kent
TRF
radios, old telephones, 1947 and 19448 vintage Motorola TV
sets, wind up record players
and other ancient technologies. I like to collect minerals and fossils
as well. I am also interested in crystallography, chemistry, and
physics.
I am co-owner and president of MACS Lab, Inc., a nationwide environmental testing company. MACS Lab also provides Field Emission SEM and TEM imaging. MACS Lab was founded by Charlie Landau and I in 1990. I have been using electron microscopes for over 25 years. I have taught dozens of classes on the use of and maintenance of electron microscopes.
Charlie and I are building our new house in Grass Valley / Nevada City, CA area. Here are the progress pictures - have a look.

If you have Quicktime Movie Player I have a panorama of my home in Santa Clara made with Apple Quicktime VR Authoring Studio. If you want to see where I live then download my house. Warning! this is a large file (840K) and will take a while to download unless you are lucky enough to have a DSL or ISDN line. If you don't have Quicktime Movie Player you can get a copy free of charge from Apple Computer for your Macintosh or WinTel PC computer running Windows 95 or 98 or Windows 3.1.
We recently brought 40 acres of land in Nevada County, California where we plan to build our retirement home. It is a really beautiful spot in this world. We built a well house which was a lot of fun. Check out the pictures here of the well house.
We plan to use solar energy for electric power in our Nevada County house. Charlie and I made a insolometer to measure the amount of sunlight that our properly receives each day. As a result of this study we learned some interesting things about solar power. Check out this report Charlie made about insolation and photo voltaic panel tilt angles.
